Cancer is a scary word no matter where it originates. It incites terror in its victims and the people who love them. Ovarian cancer does not get near the attention in the media as does some other cancers unique to women; nonetheless, it is no less of a monster and I want to offer my support to anyone who is suffering or watching someone battle this disease. I also want to invite articles from others who have been through the experience. I am also interested in who may be suffering other problems due to treatments or the disease itself. For example, when I went through treatments, protocol was that a large amount of steroids were administered to prevent allergic reaction to the chemotherapy. As a result, I developed a secondary condition called bilateral hip necrosis and now cannot ambulate without crutches or a wheelchair and will eventually require hip replacements. Other problems from chemotherapy were joint pain, temporary diabetes (also probably from the steroids), swelling, dizziness, etc. Anyway, I know this will be a small group, but I hope, if you are out there suffering, it will serve as comfort to you. I am certainly not an expert, but empathy sometimes helps. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
